JULY NEWSBOOST

Hello folks,
I hope you’re enjoying the lovely weather. Our summer is being sound tracked by the marvellous Fleet Foxes, the stunning disco-pop of Cut Copy and the alt-country loveliness of Port O’Brien.

News of some smashing shows at Night & Day over the coming weeks…

***THE MAPLE STATE WITH SPECIAL GUESTS – 6TH JULY***
In March 2008 The Maple State released new material in the form of 'Say, Scientist', a 6 song mini-album released through High Voltage Sounds. It follows their sell-out debut 7" 'Joanna' and December's limited single 'We Swear by the Light Life'. The local five piece are seen as one of the brightest hopes for big things in 2008, and are set to tour extensively throughout the rest of the year. Click HERE to see what the fuss is about.

***THE SCHOOL WITH SPECIAL GUESTS – 9TH JULY***
Bit of a mammoth night this one. Headlining are Cardiff based indie popsters THE SCHOOL , with the finest local talent picked as support. CATS IN PARIS have been causing a storm with their disjointed indie scuzz, whilst AMIDA / ROSIE TAYLOR PROJECT & MAO MAO are all worth a look. Entry is £5 and doors open at 8pm.

***TRANSGRESSIVE HOT SUMMER TOUR – 10TH JULY***
We are thrilled to announce the Manchester leg of the first ever "Transgressive Hot Summer Tour", taking place across the whole UK in July. this astoundingly diverse bill features: ESSER / LIAM FINN / SO SO MODERN , as well as long-standing Transgressive favourites JEREMY WARMSLEY and OX.EAGLE LION MAN. Tickets are just £7 adv, with the first act on around 7.30pm.

***A DAY AT THE RACES FESTIVAL – 2ND AUGUST***
We will be hosting a show on 2nd August in conjunction with the Day At The Races Festival, previously scheduled at the New Century Hall. Appearing live are MUM with special guests ADEM / OLAFUR ARNALDS / BEARSUIT and the wonderful SUBURBAN KIDS WITH BIBLICAL NAMES. That’s one helluva line-up I’m sure you’ll agree. Tickets, which are exchanged for wristbands, are £23 (Four Tet, Los Campesinos, Jeffrey Lewis, Nina Nastasia and loads more play at Moho over the road). We have a limited number of tickets available for the Night & Day side of the festival for just £13. You can get these from the café. Doors open at 6pm, with DJs following the bands till 2am. More info available with running orders at www.myspace.com/dayattheracesfestivaland tickets for the whole event from Ticketline.
